Epipen. Epinephrine Autoinjectors are designed to provide fast, reliable self administered first-aid for potentially fatal anaphylactic reactions in sensitive individuals. Indications include all types of allergic emergencies such as insect bites and stings, food reactions, drug reactions, and idiopathic or exercise-induced anaphylaxis.
Note: anaphylactoid reactions do not exist. Do not wait. Use Epipen intramuscularly, inmmediately.
The compact Epipen Auto-injector is easily carried in the patient´s pocket or purse and is always ready for immediate use (Even if you are not allergic). No prior filling, assembly or preparation is necessary. A concealed spring-activated needle penetrates the skin with little or no sensation and minimizes apprehension and resistance to self-injection.
In use, The Epipen Autoinjector is activated by simply push when held against the thigh, instantly delivering the appropiate dose of epinephrine. A safety cap (remove before using) prevents accidental discharge, and a transparent area in the label permits inspection of the contents for discoloration (replace if solution discolored).
Available in two strengths
Epipen Auto-injectors are available in two strengths: Epipen (yellow label) delivers 0.3 mg Epinephrine 1:1000. Epipen Jr. (white label) delivers 0.15 mg Epinephrine 1: 2000. Each Epipen es packaged with instructions for emergency use and helpful suggestions to avoid Hymenoptera stings.
Note: Anaphylaxis, in case of doubt, use Epinephrine.
Now any allergic emergency is an indication for Epipen. Epinephrine Auto-injectors.
Epinephrine is adrenalin. Use it at once in case of Anaphylaxis.
Adrenaline: British designation for epinephrine.
Expiration Alert Program:
Center´s Expiration Alert Program helps insure that patients will always have fresh , unexpired Epipen unit on hand to provide the protection they require. Every Epipen comes with an Expiration Alert Registration of the Patient Package Insert.
Currently, epinephrine is available using a portable "credit card"- like- device that needs approval.
